POSITION SUMMARY
Inspects all electrical wiring in any type of construction within the City of Pittsburgh for compliance with approved plans, applicable codes and regulations.

Union: This position is included in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal
Employees, Local 2719 bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Civil Service Classification: Non-Competitive
NOTE: Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Certification #19 - Electrical Inspector must be obtained within (6) six months of appointment.
NOTE: Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Certification #22 - Energy Inspector must be obtained within (9) nine months of appointment.
POSITION DUTIES
Performs work in accordance with established City and Departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Inspects electrical systems installed in all construction projects for compliance with approved plans, City Code, Uniform Construction Code, National Electric Code and International Code Council (ICC) Code.
Investigates complaints and alleged violations of electrical systems in existing structures.
Inspects damage to electrical systems and submits reports on findings.
Issues citations of violations to property owners and/or contractors.
Testifies in court on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh.
Reviews plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, etc. related to assigned electrical wiring inspections..
Recommends approval and/or disapproval of projects based on compliance with applicable codes.
Maintains records and prepares accurate reports and correspondence on all activities and actions taken.
May be required to be on 24 hour call in case of emergency or fire.
Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel and other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
