Also, the next meeting is scheduled as our Holiday Quarterly on December 19, 2024 at South Hills CC. This is also an election year and the President, 2nd Vice-President, Treasurer & One Director are up for election.
Our first quarterly business meeting will include a presentation from Nicholas Delphia from the Allegheny County (PA) Health Department. Asbestos regulations, followed by the rules specific to emergency demolition situations that municipalities might have. Information and guidelines on both planned demolitions and emergency demolitions will be shared.
The meeting will be held at the South Hills Country Club. Only members in good standing must RSVP to the meeting. No CEU’s are granted without membership.
We are having our final meeting of 2023 on December 21, 2023.

Presentation and continuing education on Industrialized and Manufactured Housing for the Commonwealth.

We are excited to invite you to the 2023 CBO Annual Regional Code Conference. This year’s focus will be on Fire and Life Safety.
CBO is offering Building and Fire Code Professionals the opportunity to choose from a variety of courses focusing on different topics related to Fire and Life Safety. We have selected courses that cover broad core requirements that cross over to various certification levels.

Our next Quarterly meeting is scheduled for THURSDAY JUNE 15, 2023 at the South Hills Country Club at 8:30am.
The meeting topics will be:
1) A guest presenter will be on hand to talk about FIBERGLASS REBAR in the code and marketplace
2) Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (PA L&I) Mr. Jeffery Criss – will be a guest to speak about Accessibility Audits and Procedures.
5.0 Hours of CEU will be grated for attendance
Mark your calendar for the September 28th - 30th 2022 for the 2022 Commonwealth Building Officials Annual Code Conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort!
We will be providing three days of continuing education related to code officials, along with our September business meeting and a President’s Dinner with attendance from ICC Board of Directors President Cindy Davis. We’ll be providing education on a large swath of subjects, including but not limited to:
International Mechanical Code Plan Review
International Energy Conservation Code Fundamentals
Mixed Occupancies
Residential Energy
Current Zoning Hot Topics
International Residential Code Deck and Concrete Fasteners
Pennsylvania Housing and Research Center presentation
Many long-standing and sponsors will also be in attendance as vendors, including Boise-Cascade, Simpson Strong-Tie, Gannett-Fleming, OpenGov, International Code Council, Hoover Wood Products, and more. No need to pre-register for classes - just register for the conference and attend whichever presentation you’d like!
Commonwealth Building Officials (CBO) will be hosting a remote learning opportunity on December 7th and December 8th. Our regularly scheduled in-person quarterly meeting will still be held on December 16, 2021 at the South Hills Country Club. CEU’s will be given for that attendance as well. The agenda, including open officer positions, will be circulated before that meeting.
The two remote learning courses will be:
- 2018 IPC Methods of Venting Plumbing Fixtures (December 7th from 9 am – 12 pm. 3 hours of CEU’s )
- 2018 IPC Nonpotable Water (December 8th from 9 am – 12 pm. 3 hours of CEU’s)
RSVP by emailing Anthony Asciolla at aasciolla@northstrabanetwp.com. Any non-CBO member that would like to attend this class can do so by signing up for CBO via our 2022 Membership Application ($50), which would need to be paid before the class. I will be sending out handouts, the zoom link, and the course synopses to all who RSVP as we get closer to the class time.
