Carnegie Borough is accepting letters of interest and applications for the Municipal Code / Zoning Enforcement Officer. The duties and requirements of this position are provided below. Description of Title Responsible for zoning and building codes, residential and commercial construction inspections in coordination with the Borough electrical/plumbing inspection and plan review agencies. Certification under the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act 45 (Uniform Construction Code) required for continued employment. The Description of Duties are as follows:
Enforces the Carnegie Borough Zoning Ordinance through the review of permit applications and investigation of zoning related complaints
Prepares applications for and attends Zoning Hearing Board meetings
Prepares applications for conditional use hearings of the Planning Commission
Processes municipal Vacant Property, Mechanical Device, Landlord-Tenant, and Dumpster permit applications
Enforces provisions of the Carnegie Borough Code of Ordinances in coordination with the Borough Solicitor, Borough Engineer, Police Department, Public Works Department, and the Allegheny County Health Department
Conducts occupancy inspections due to change of ownership or tenancy
Investigates property maintenance complaints and issues notice of violation
Files citations with and attends hearings in District Court and Common Pleas Court
Files monthly reports with the Borough Manager and The Allegheny County Department of Property Assessments
Attends monthly public meetings of Borough Council
Attends any trainings or courses for continued education that relates to the job position
Operates Borough vehicles associated with listed job duties (valid PA driver’s license required)
Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Borough Manger
